Problem description

Inflammation of the foreskin can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). The cause of acute inflammation of the foreskin is most often insufficient hygiene, unprotected sexual intercourse, or diabetes. If the inflammation persists for a long time or recurs, chronic inflammation of the foreskin may develop, in which the foreskin becomes scarred and thickened. Small scars and foreskin raggedness retract over time, resulting in a narrowing of the foreskin, or phimosis.
