More about the procedure
Procedure characteristics
What is microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord actually?
Microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord is a suitable solution for chronic idiopathic testicular pain that could not be treated conservatively and lasts more than 3 months. This operation is approached after excluding other, otherwise treatable causes of testicular pain, such as inflammatory, tumor and traumatic testicular pain, testicular pain caused by its torsion, or testicular pain caused by diseases of the kidneys, prostate, abdominal organs or diseases of the spine and nervous system.
Microsurgical denervation of the spermatic cord as treatment for chronic testicular pain
Our workplace performs microsurgical denervation of the testicle using a spatial optical system that ensures optimal visibility for the surgeon. The operation is performed under general anesthesia (artificial sleep) and usually takes up to 40 minutes. After the operation, the patient goes home on the day of the operation. The condition does not require hospitalization.
The essence of the operation and its effectiveness
The essence of the operation is cutting the spermatic branches (n. genitofemoralis and n. ilioingvinalis) without damaging the vascular structures of the spermatic cord and vas deferens. The operation can also be combined with vasectomy, i.e. interruption of the vas deferens.
The success of microsurgical denervation in the treatment of chronic testicular pain is high and reaches up to 90% effectiveness. Its effect is permanent removal of testicular pain. The operation is burdened with minimal risk of complications (less than 1.5%).
Before the operation, internal preoperative examination is necessary, which will be performed either by your general practitioner or by us. Before the operation, it is necessary to shave the scrotum, penis area and groin. The operation usually requires subsequent 7-day sick leave according to the nature of the patient’s work.
The operation is performed personally by MUDr. Milan Gajdoš, MPH, an experienced urologist with more than 25 years of practice. Private practice ensures the highest quality of materials used and the highest hygienic standard. Our top workplaces guarantee discretion (with us you will not come into contact with masses of people as in a hospital), individual and friendly approach with constant presence of your doctor during your stay with us with the possibility to communicate with the doctor even after the procedure by phone 24 hours a day or in person until complete healing.
