What is prostatitis shock wave treatment actually?
Prostatitis is often a prolonged and burdensome disease with an adverse effect on the patient’s psyche and overall condition. Patients with chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain syndrome often seek help from many doctors, physiotherapists, and even charlatans in an attempt to find relief from this chronic unfavorable disease.
Treatment of chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain syndrome consists of applying shock waves to the prostate area and trigger points of the pelvic floor. It is an outpatient treatment course of 4 ESWT device sessions. After applying shock waves, pain subsides.
The ESWT method consists of applying extracorporeal shock waves to calcified prostate scars to which bacteria adhere and the muscle-ligament apparatus of the pelvic floor, leading to its relaxation and improved microcirculation. The effect of the shock wave leads to the destruction of calcifications, which are phagocytosed by leukocytes and subsequently more easily eliminated by the body’s own immune system.
In case of acute bacterial prostatitis, it is necessary to first treat it with antibiotics. Acute bacterial prostatitis is usually accompanied by fever, burning during urination, and pain in the lower abdomen. In case of chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain syndrome, there is usually pain in the lower abdomen and/or perineum, mild or intense, with or without urination difficulties. Sexual life difficulties are often present as well.
