Pain during erection

Pain during erection

It is most often associated with the following problems:

Short frenulum of the penis

A short frenulum of the penis is an unpleasant problem that can cause pain in the penis area. During sexual intercourse, it can rupture painfully, causing bleeding, and can also be the cause of premature ejaculation. This is a congenital or acquired phenomenon, for example after scarring of a previous rupture of the frenulum.

In children, it can cause developmental disorders of the penis and glans penis.

Narrowed foreskin

Narrowed foreskin is a condition where the skin cannot be pulled over the glans at all, or only partially. The result of this condition is pain during erection of the penis, inability to maintain foreskin hygiene, penis odor, inability to have intercourse, problems during intercourse, an aesthetic defect that interferes with sex and partner life, repeated cracks in the skin of the penis after erection, and even inability to urinate in advanced stages. Phimosis is also a risk factor in relation to penile cancer. In children, a narrowed foreskin can also prevent normal penis development and inflammation of the urinary tract and kidneys.

Inflammation of the foreskin

Inflammation of the foreskin can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). The most common causes of acute inflammation of the foreskin are poor hygiene, unprotected sex, or diabetes. If the inflammation persists for a long time or recurs, chronic inflammation of the foreskin can develop, which causes scarring and thickening of the foreskin. Small scars and foreskin raggedness retract over time, causing a narrowing of the foreskin, or phimosis.

Inflammation of the foreskin is common in boys who have a narrowed foreskin or phimosis.

Peyronieho’s disease (Induratio penis plastica)

PEYRONIE’S DISEASE or IPP (Induratio penis plastica) is a localized disease of the penis, in which an inflammatory focus develops in the covering of the penile corpora cavernosa. In the early stages of the disease, it is accompanied by pain in the penis at the site of the plaque. The plaque (localized inflammation) gradually hardens and calcifications are deposited in it. This disease, if left untreated, can lead to curvature of the penis or other deformities, erectile dysfunction and often the inability to have sex.

It is important to know that the sooner treatment is started, the more successful it is, because the disease can usually be stopped and thus prevent penile deformation and pain. In case of penile pain, palpable hardness, do not hesitate and make an appointment for an examination as soon as possible, thus preventing penile deformation, pain and impotence. Advanced forms with significant penis deformities must be treated surgically.

Our office uses a combination of methods in the treatment of incipient and milder forms – ultrasound shock wave ESWT and injection treatment with substances affecting inflammation or enzymes. In the case of severe forms with significant penis deformities, surgical treatment is usually necessary.
